Verdensrekorden er hjemme / Guinness World Record is official

Our world record attempt “The World’s Largest Parade of Electric Cars” in Silkeborg, is now officially approved by Guinness World Records.

It is with great pleasure that the Danish electric car union, Forenede Danske Elbilister (FDEL), is now able to announce that Guinness World Records has recently validated the more than 3 kilometer long parade consisting of 402 electric cars taking place at the opening ceremony of the Silkeborg highway, as an official word record.

The parade took place on September 11, 2016, and it attracted a lot of attention, as some of the participants came from different countries around Europe, including participants from Norway, Ukraine, Sweden, Germany, and of course people from all over Denmark. FDEL would like to thank all of the people who showed up in their electric car, and as part of the parade assisted in visualising the electric car as an eco-friendly vehicle, which more or less drove silently past dozens upon dozens of spectators who stood along the new highway stretch, that connects Silkeborg with Aarhus and Herning.

FDEL succeded with the World’s longest parade of electric cars to internationally highlight Denmark as a green nation. The spokesman of FDEL, Martin Messer Thomsen, says that he is proud that FDEL was able to host an event of this scale, and at the same time succeeding in getting the record approved by Guinness World Records. Martin Thomsen says with certainty that the voluntary forces among the Danish electric vehicle drivers are still going strong, even though the political support toward electric vehicles in Denmark is currently shortcoming.
